At the moment in Room One their topic is....the Bush!
They have been learning and researching about the New Zealand bush.
Currently, they have been learning what Native means.
1st March 2012
Now they are learning about which animals live in the bush, and how they live. Tomorrow on the 23rd of March they are going to Otari bush for their bush trip, to learn more about the bush.

The science week has just passed. Members of the middles science group came down to room one and taught them about gravity, forces and how structures work and hold up against different forces. A lot to take in for a year one right? Room one had lots of fun and enjoyed these activities.

Room One helped organise and participated in the Grandparent's liturgy. The junior syndicate was in charge of the liturgy. A lot of grandparents attended and it was a very successful liturgy. The Parents and Friends group prepared a morning tea for our beloved grandparents.
The Junior Syndicate's faces are in this heart, in the middle of the flowers.

For the first half of the term, room one is learning about the Olympics. For the second half we will be learning about respiratory system (the way our body breathes).
16th August 2012
Yesterday we had a school rendition of The Olympics. Each classroom had a different teacher with a different game/sport. All the houses were split into smaller groups and they competed with the other houses' smaller teams. But on some occasions the teams had to compete against their own house. Even the littlies got to be part of the teams. Ms. Jensen organised a racket game with fly swats. It was a very successful day where everyone of all ages enjoyed the activities.

The Father's Day Liturgy is on Friday. Today Room One will be making surprise gifts for their dads with Room Ten, their big buddies. It's sure to be fun!
